Good point. The internet can be a tricky place when it comes to looking for and offering advice. We need to be careful when giving advice and skeptical when looking for it.

Maybe better educated is a better word than skeptical? In general (with some exceptions) the allopathic medical community has created an environment of doubt, ridicule and skepticism in regard to the natural, complementary medicine community. What I see in these pages are people who wish to free themselves from the "disease care industry" and adopt a more wholistic and natural lifestyle where proper food and nutrition form the basis of long lasting health. Outrageous falsehoods are made on both sides of the spectrum; our job is to educate ourselves. Those who jump on "trendy" diets, supplements, etc without research are no different than those who blindly follow their MD's drug prescriptions!

I think this is always solid advise. Be careful what you say!

I wish more would adhere to this advise. The pharmaceutical companies come to mind immediately. They spend $1 billion on what they say (Marketing Charts: Pharmaceutical Sales to reach 10.6 billion in 2008) and earn $10 billion by saying it, but not really being too careful about it. Approximately 250,000 people are hospitalized each year due to a medication side effect or drug interaction. 100,000 Americans die from them. (JAMA 4/15/02.) Common prescription and over-the-counter medications are the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States. Apparently not too many are being careful of what is being said.

In my opinion, per the world of health, it is always best to get multiple opinions from as many trusted sources as can be.

The best health care is self health care. Think prevention.

Oooh! I LOVE IT!
Thank you! Mr. Orman. I was watching what I was saying to the Dr. but since you so openly said what you did....

I almost died from a vaccination when I was a baby and since then my family has been practicing alternative lifestyle since.

I think it's sad that this world is all based on money and dying people. I recenlty heard that cancer can be cured and I should tell you (you'll laugh!).....lol....we can fly a rocket to the moon, but can't find a cure for cancer, ya right!

Hi Dr.

First, why? (your statement) 'Be careful what you say!!!'

If a client came to you looking to get rid of acne, severe acne, would you suggest drinking more water first, maybe spring water and have them cut out sugars (including poison sugar, like aspartame) to see what would happen?

Or would you write a prescription?
